The region around Rantepao is called "Toraja Country", home of the Torajan ethnic group.

Torajans are famous for their funeral rites, burial sites carved into cliffs or trees and architecture with tongkonans and their curved roof.

I am Yacob Kakke owner of the Mama Tia Homestay and local tour guide in Toraja.

I was born and raised in Ba'tan, 2km from Rantepao, where I still live today with my family.
